THE Wedding

Yes, It was a week ago, but blogging isn't my only chore. Last Saturday, November 6th my baby L got married. She was so beautiful! I was so honored to be apart of that day.
I remember when she met J. We were all a little sceptical about it. He was a friend of a high school classmate, and it was a blind date. But they met and had a good time and it was history from there. The first time I met J, L, asked M and I to go to the Cumming Country Fair with them. M and I being country music fans were very excited to go. Because M and I started dating so long ago, he is like a big brother to L. They both bicker and protect each other like siblings. Michael kind of had a gut feeling J was going to be a good guy because he like Charlie Daniels and he knew the old country songs. After the concert we stopped my DQ, and had ice cream. For those of you that don't know, M doesn't like chocolate. Well at least that is what he says, but he will eat peanut M&M's, snickers, and brownie corners. Guess what. J is the same way. He doesn't like chocolate, but he ate a Reece's Blizzard. (I think, maybe Snickers?) But you get the point. M was really liking this guy! So we sat at DQ for a while...enough time for M to embarrass L to pieces.
From then on he was around a lot. And he was talked about a whole lot more. He did the holidays with us, and she did the holidays with his family, which in the dating world is a big deal. THEN, he went with our family to the beach. They had been dating 8 months, so I knew things were getting serious. In the M household you don't just go on vacation unless you are very tight with us or family! =)

Mom and I had talks, we knew just by being around the two love birds there would be a ring sometime soon. Not during the holidays...that would be to obvious. So mid January he popped the question. He took a few days to decide how to do it---it had to be perfect! Snow put a delay on it, but it happened.
Now the wedding planning could be a whole other blog, but I will spare you. =) If they planned it, they had to plan it again. If they booked it, they had to book it again. I was beginning to be a little crazy, but it all worked out and was beautiful! Our mother is super creative, thrifty and tactful all in the same time. The wedding was very simple and the reception was super adorable. There were all her and J's closest friends and family. Funny thing, Dad planned for them to get a limo to take them home to drop the tux, and then to the Westin at the airport as a surprise to L. And based on the 'schedule' they would probably be ready to go around 11:30. So Dad had the limo pick them up then. Well, because it was so late and things with the photographer didn't take as long, L was ready to go. You could just see her getting more and more tired. BUT she didn't understand why she was still there. So J had to break it to her that a limo was coming to just relax!!

Here is a pic of the beautiful bride and her sis. And one of her and her hubby. And of course one of my sweet little man--ring barrer C!

Four Months Late... Who's Counting?

I love throwing Caden's birthday party! I love to let him pick a theme and then we run with it. He is very creative and helps me with a lot of the planning. Yes, He's was 4, but it's his party. No, I didn't take all his ideas. Maybe just one. But we had fun. This year we did a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party! YES TMNT ! Just where did he learn about them? He found a stash of his Daddy's old VHS movies. We have a DVD/VHS combo so we get to watch a lot of the classics. He had only watched a few, but he fell in love with them. So about the time we were planning his party he was watching the movies about two times a day. Interesting enough they were coming back! Yes, Like in the stores. Way better, too! Invites I found a cute photo online and printed them in a 4x4 square. I used 'Paint' to make the pizza. Took them to Office Depot and they printed them. I made a 'pizza box' out of card stock. Don't ask me how I did it, I just folded an...

Home Study. Step 1

We had our first step of our home study at the end of May.  Home study, like I have said before is 'home study' is an adoption term. I am learning them as I go. Some I still don't get. Home study, I only know step 1. I will learn as we go. Part 2 is our individual meeting.  We went and met with our, I guess she's called a case worker, on Thursday afternoon before we headed to the beach for Memorial Day weekend.  We met at a local restaurant, on the patio. It was so relaxed. I was a little nervous. Telling someone you had never met your dreams and about your 'history'. She stated that by the end she will know way more about us than we want her to know. We just talked a little bit about what we had in mind, and she went through a page and a half of 'to-do's'.  We have to get lots of documents, certificates, questionnaires, letters, physicals, fingerprints, verification's, photos of us and our home, etc.  We have no deadlines so that makes things...

Many More to Come

One more for today and I'll give it a break. Today marks a big day for me and Michael. No, it's not our wedding anniversary. But it is an anniversary for us. Today, twelve years ago, Michael asked me to go out with him. Yes, go out with him. We were in ninth grade. I was very shy. He was not. Well, except when it came down time to talk to a girl he had a crush on. I remember it was a Sunday night at church he wrote me a note and gave it to me. Like all high school girls, I ran straight to the girls bathroom, Ha! There I read the note...which I still have some where. It said something along the lines of "Do you like me?" Check "yes" or "no". Not really. But it was very short and to the point. "Do you like me?", "I like you." So I pretended I hadn't read it and just said bye like normal. I remember going home that night and Sandy Seidling was there at our house, and I told her, or maybe Lindsey's big mouth told everyone? S...
