Four Months Late... Who's Counting?

I love throwing Caden's birthday party! I love to let him pick a theme and then we run with it. He is very creative and helps me with a lot of the planning. Yes, He's was 4, but it's his party. No, I didn't take all his ideas. Maybe just one. But we had fun.

This year we did a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party! YES TMNT! Just where did he learn about them? He found a stash of his Daddy's old VHS movies. We have a DVD/VHS combo so we get to watch a lot of the classics. He had only watched a few, but he fell in love with them. So about the time we were planning his party he was watching the movies about two times a day. Interesting enough they were coming back! Yes, Like in the stores. Way better, too!

Invites

I found a cute photo online and printed them in a 4x4 square. I used 'Paint' to make the pizza. Took them to Office Depot and they printed them. I made a 'pizza box' out of card stock. Don't ask me how I did it, I just folded and cut and made one. I made it flat so it could be mailed easily without getting crushed. I glued the turtle photo on the top, the TMNT logo on the pizza and glued the pizza in the box. On the inside top of the box was the details about the party.

I used streamers and googly eyes to make the mask.
What's a TMNT party with out the turtles?

I got these at Party City for $4.99 3/pk
Every 5 year old has to have a pinata!

Party Favors
We made nunchucks and pizzas! And everyone got a small goodie bag. I just found green paper bags and made them look like turtles with construction paper.
The nunchucks were made out of pipe insulators. I got two pieces at Lowe's for less than $5. I cut them into even pieces. We used skewers to make holes in them and used plastic string and orange duct tape to attach them. It was easy and then the kids had something to take home. Caden still has his. (yes 4 months)
Pizza!! I got 'break and bake' sugar cookies. Baked them. A can of cream cheese icing and used food coloring to make it red (sauce). I shredded white chocolate as the cheese and red M&M's as the pepperoni.
Cookie pizza supplies. Super easy!

Ta-Da!
We did a few games. These were our prizes.
Thank you Target $1 section!
Can turned into a cutlery holder.

Green Hawaiian Punch. TMNT cups from Walmart.

Cake pans $1 for 2 at the Dollar Tree, spray painted and taped construction paper to.
One for each turtle.

They just had to toss the shells in the bucket.
Worked great for all ages!

Mystery...They had to stick their hands in the soup. (Green Jello)
I had small prizes inside. Snakes and bouncy balls.

Say Cheese Pizza!!

Cake was from Sam's. Double decker cookie cake made to look like a pizza.
What do you think?

We had a great time. I love that we have friend that pour into our baby!
Happy 5th Birthday to our small, funny, compassionate, crazy, funny face maker, blue eyed, mud diggin', bike riding, selfless, cookie monster!

Home Study. Step 1

We had our first step of our home study at the end of May.  Home study, like I have said before is 'home study' is an adoption term. I am learning them as I go. Some I still don't get. Home study, I only know step 1. I will learn as we go. Part 2 is our individual meeting.  We went and met with our, I guess she's called a case worker, on Thursday afternoon before we headed to the beach for Memorial Day weekend.  We met at a local restaurant, on the patio. It was so relaxed. I was a little nervous. Telling someone you had never met your dreams and about your 'history'. She stated that by the end she will know way more about us than we want her to know. We just talked a little bit about what we had in mind, and she went through a page and a half of 'to-do's'.  We have to get lots of documents, certificates, questionnaires, letters, physicals, fingerprints, verification's, photos of us and our home, etc.  We have no deadlines so that makes things...

Many More to Come

One more for today and I'll give it a break. Today marks a big day for me and Michael. No, it's not our wedding anniversary. But it is an anniversary for us. Today, twelve years ago, Michael asked me to go out with him. Yes, go out with him. We were in ninth grade. I was very shy. He was not. Well, except when it came down time to talk to a girl he had a crush on. I remember it was a Sunday night at church he wrote me a note and gave it to me. Like all high school girls, I ran straight to the girls bathroom, Ha! There I read the note...which I still have some where. It said something along the lines of "Do you like me?" Check "yes" or "no". Not really. But it was very short and to the point. "Do you like me?", "I like you." So I pretended I hadn't read it and just said bye like normal. I remember going home that night and Sandy Seidling was there at our house, and I told her, or maybe Lindsey's big mouth told everyone? S...
