Picking It Back Up

It's been a minute. Actually it's been five years.  I'll just say life got crazy busy adding our girl.  So let's start with today. Today I am sitting and thinking about everything. Life. We are currently living in an apartment in Macon. A loft apartment, meaning it's real expensive. Not much more about it is fancy. We do have an elevator but that's about it. We are in the meh, middle stages of building our house. June 2018, we bought 21.55 acres in a spot in the road called Forsyth. It's just outside of McDonough (where we grew up) and Macon. We looked in lots of places, tired to decide where we wanted to raise our kids. We wanted excellent schools and wanted to in a good church. June 2019, we sold our house on April Drive in Conyers and moved to The Lofts at Bass while we built our home. We wanted to go ahead and get the big kids in school where they would be once the house was complete. They are there!  We are hoping to be in it by Halloween. Our bu...

One Step Closer

2013 I don't even remember where I left off.  August I started back to work.  I am working at the school where the kids go.  I feel like I blinked and three months went by.  Adding another one to our everyday - makes us feel so much busier.  So with that being said that is why, again, I am behind on our updates! 10/26 I met with our caseworker this week, finally. Saturday she came to our house to do our final step of our Home Study.  She just had to legally say our home was safe for us to adopt.   This week our attorney should be getting the parental surrender of rights from her mom.  That will give us the go ahead on getting everything legal so we can be her legal parents.  Halloween and Caden's birthday are both coming up so we are gearing up for both of those.  I made the kids costumes this year.  They are going to be Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.  They are going to be so adorable!  Caden wants so bad to h...

It's a Real Job

Written 2013. I found this in my 'drafts'.  This might be a long one.  Try to follow me. I have a lot to say and a lot on my mind and I hope to communicate it so it makes sense. I was a stay-at-home Mom from the time my son was born. I begged and pleated with my husband. It was very important to me. I wanted to raise our son. I didn't want someone else to, I didn't want to pay someone else to. God entrusted him to me and I am going to do everything in my power to raise him the best way I know how. This may sound crazy to some but that's my honest thought. I know it's not for everyone to stay home. Whether it be finances or desire.  I know this is not a one size fits all.  I have thought about this a lot through the years. I remember washing and folding my son's boxers for the first time. I thought to myself, I am raising a man. I am raising a Dad. I am raising a husband. I pray daily that he will be the best of all of these. I do not take raising him...

Long Overdue Update

It has been awhile since I blogged. I have had so much to tell everyone but didn't want to put anything in jeopardy. Just airing on the safe side. Soo...We were contacted in June 10th by a friend of mine.  She was one of my Thirty-One hostess and we were friends on FB, so she knew we were looking to adopt. She asked if we would be interested in a older child instead of a newborn like we had been pursuing.  All along, we had told each other that if God placed a child in our path, we'd pray and consider them, just as long as they were younger than Caden.  We have heard and I have read that it can be hard on your biological children.  We didn't want to cause any problems that way.  I told her that and she said she knew of someone that had a 4 year old. I was super anxious to find out allll the details.  I called Michael and told him.  We waited about 5 days, then we were put in contact with her caregiver.  That next Thursday we went to the little g...

Home Study. Step 1

We had our first step of our home study at the end of May.  Home study, like I have said before is 'home study' is an adoption term. I am learning them as I go. Some I still don't get. Home study, I only know step 1. I will learn as we go. Part 2 is our individual meeting.  We went and met with our, I guess she's called a case worker, on Thursday afternoon before we headed to the beach for Memorial Day weekend.  We met at a local restaurant, on the patio. It was so relaxed. I was a little nervous. Telling someone you had never met your dreams and about your 'history'. She stated that by the end she will know way more about us than we want her to know. We just talked a little bit about what we had in mind, and she went through a page and a half of 'to-do's'.  We have to get lots of documents, certificates, questionnaires, letters, physicals, fingerprints, verification's, photos of us and our home, etc.  We have no deadlines so that makes things...

Update: Jumping In with Two Feet

Some of you may know, but I have not shared with everyone yet, just because it's a lot to process and I needed some time to take it all in. Last week we made our adoption announcement super public.  We are 'FB official'.  We also mailed out almost 100 of our adoption flyers.  I was amazed and humbled by the responses we got from our friends and family!  I had several people come up to me at church and ask if they could pass on our flyer to someone they knew, or someone that worked where they could share our story. Overwhelmed. That next week, I got two phone calls from two friends or friends of friends.  Make sense?  That's how this whole process is going to work.  So now we have been told about six.  Yes 6 possible birth mom's that are looking to give their baby's up for adoption.  Not all of those were in one week, but three were.  So when I say it was a lot to process, I mean it was hard.  Excited!?  Scared.  Tears. W...

Ready, Set, Home Study!

Home study is a term we have learned since being apart of the adoption world.  We applied to have ours on Monday and they called back yesterday and we set it up for next week.  We know it's a lot of paper work and that we will have to do finger prints, and background checks, but that is all we know for now. We are looking into some fundraisers as well.  I will keep you posted about those as soon as we decide.

Thank You!!

We have been in the adoption process for several months now, but as I was sending out our flyers to all of our close friends and family, I decided it was a good time to make it 'Facebook Official'.  We were very specific about telling our closest friends and family in person and then from there slowly spreading our news.  Yesterday I sat down and addressed 50+ envelopes with our flyers.  (Mom helped a little last week while we were at their house.) That made this whole process a little bit more realistic.  Today I am going to call and inquire about what we need to do to start our home study!  I would tell you what that means, but I don't really know yet.  I know it's something we have to do and that's about all I know for certain. I wanted to thank all of our friends and family that have taken time to encourage us through this process.  We know this is going to be a long hard process, so we are going to need all the love, support and encouragement th...

We Are Official!!

Today we got our 'official' file number from our attorney!!  Now that means we are taking our flyers to be printed!  I will be mailing them next week!  I have a full list of people that will get getting our flyer!  Since we are counting on you to help us find our birth mom you need to have a flyer or two so you can pass on our information!  We can not thank you enough for your help!!  Keep your eyes out for this in your mailbox very soon!!

Roller Coaster Ride

It's just that. We knew getting into this it would have ups and downs. Lots of waiting, and wondering. I was talking to a friend of ours that is adopting as well, and she said, 'Welcome to the roller coaster that is adoption'. She's right. I thought about a song I knew from when I was younger. (I still have the cassette...) It's called Roller Coaster Ride, but 4HIM. Life is a roller coaster. Music speaks so much to me!! As you go through highs and lows And all that's in between The Lord alone is in control Of this big scream machine We told our closest family and friends early on.  We wanted prayers, and support!  We got that right away from everyone!  My sister's, friend's Mom (complicated, I know.) knew of a baby that was born and the mother had already lots her birth rights. We thought we had a lead. A potential baby could be ours.   Yes, one week after we had made our first official step towards adoption.  I pretty much checked my phone...

It's Been a Long Time Coming

Where do I begin?  I guess I'll start at the beginning.  I don't mind sharing.  It could help someone that I know, or may never know.  It's not super personal.  It's been a taboo.  It's not so much anymore. You know how when you are going through something and you think you are the only one that has ever gone through it?  Whether it's relationships with friends, family 'issues', disciplining your kids, you get it... I didn't know anyone else that was going through what I was going through.  Actually it seemed like everyone I knew, was not having the problem at all.  Infertility.  You know what it means.  People just don't tell you about it. Miscarriage.  You know what it is.  People don't really talk about that either.  People that you come in contact with everyday have or have had problems getting pregnant.  Or had a miscarriage.  Even if they tried for 6 months and couldn't get pregnant.  You fee...

Another big step...

When we visited our attorney we were given a few steps to get started.  One was to complete and return our background check paper work.  I have held on to it for a few days now.  Wednesday (yesterday) was the day.  I mailed it in.  So we are officially on our way.  This will give us a file number with our attorney and then we will be able to print out our flyers that I have created.  These flyers are going to help us to a birth mom.  We are not going through an agency so we are marketing ourselves with the help of all of our friends and family. Once we get our file number I will mail everyone that I can think of one.  That way if you hear of someone you can pass it along. So here it is...Step 2:

Be Sure to 'Follow'!

Be sure to follow the blog to keep up on our most up to date information.  I will do my best to keep it up!! I will be sending out flyers in the mail soon.  We have to turn in our background check paperwork to start our file and we will get a file number. Then we will be official.

Four Months Late... Who's Counting?

I love throwing Caden's birthday party! I love to let him pick a theme and then we run with it. He is very creative and helps me with a lot of the planning. Yes, He's was 4, but it's his party. No, I didn't take all his ideas. Maybe just one. But we had fun. This year we did a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party! YES TMNT ! Just where did he learn about them? He found a stash of his Daddy's old VHS movies. We have a DVD/VHS combo so we get to watch a lot of the classics. He had only watched a few, but he fell in love with them. So about the time we were planning his party he was watching the movies about two times a day. Interesting enough they were coming back! Yes, Like in the stores. Way better, too! Invites I found a cute photo online and printed them in a 4x4 square. I used 'Paint' to make the pizza. Took them to Office Depot and they printed them. I made a 'pizza box' out of card stock. Don't ask me how I did it, I just folded an...

Can we have a do over?

Are there days where you wish you could start the day over? Today is one of those days. I woke up feeling crumby. I hurt myself three times before 10:00 am! I cut my finger making breakfast, I step on a toy and bruised the crap out of the arch of my foot, and stabbed my finger with a tack! Yeah it could have been worse, but I'm just going to go back to bed and start again. I have thought already, I'm ready to start 2014 back over. It seems like we just have not been on the 'right foot' this year. We have been working hard on eliminating our debt for several years now and 2014 was going to be our year!! We have worked so hard to make it happen and we knew it was going to be a great year! We got two confirmations that it was happening! We were on our way to be  DEBT FREE !! We as family have been praying and seeking God's direction for our lives. What were we called to do? What is our families purpose. Satan, got word this is what we were doing. So he has tried re...

We're Back!

So I wanted to try to start blogging again. I went to my blog and I can't figure out how to work it. It's different, and I couldn't make it cute. So have moved back to Blogger. Here we are. This is my favorite time of year to do fun Pinterest crafts, so watch out! I will try to feed the family and wash clothes, but for the most part, you can find me some where doing a DIY project. 'Til then-Bye!

It's December!!

December is my favorite month, not because it is cold, but because I love having excuses to eat really yummy food and hang out with my family. I have the best family in the world. Some times I take for granted just how wonderful they are to me!! This past Sunday we went and picked out of Christmas tree. We, included M's family. It has been our tradition to go pick out a real tree and I could not wait for C to join us in doing that. The past two Christmas', he wasn't old enough to really understand. This time, all he said was 'Whoa, tree Mommy', 'Whoa, ights!'. He was so excited! Then once we were able to put the tree up and decorate it-He loved that too! He said 1000 times, 'Thank you, ights Mommy' and 'Thank you, ights Daddy'. I put the lights on the tree and M put the lights on the house! He was so excited. The first ornament he wanted to put on the tree was a deer. 'Shoot, dea' (shoot deer) That's what he says...every time he s...
